ASEAN Chinese Business Leaders Summit

On October 7, 2025, the Malaysian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCCIM) and United Overseas Bank (UOB) hosted the inaugural ASEAN Chinese Business Leaders Summit in Kuala Lumpur. The summit attracted around 700 entrepreneurs, scholars, and alumni from across the region and beyond, who came together to discuss ASEAN cooperation and future economic trends.


The AGTHUM also took part in this grand event. The delegation was led by President Zi Shen, and included Secretary-General Fabian, alumni Tan Kah Chun, Chong Wei Lik, and Kenix Tan.

Keynote Address


At the “ASEAN Distinguished Chinese Business Leaders Night,” Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, President of ACCCIM, emphasized in his speech that this summit was not only a major gathering of regional Chinese entrepreneurs, but also an important platform for collaboration and mutual growth.


He noted that through the business matching sessions held during the summit, enterprises from ASEAN countries established new connections, deepened cooperation, and generated fresh opportunities. On the same day, 51 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed, with a potential total value exceeding RM100 million, demonstrating strong confidence and expectations for cross-border collaboration.


Datuk Ng further stated that ACCCIM will continue to play the role of a bridge and connector, actively promoting exchanges among ASEAN Chinese entrepreneurs, and helping businesses seize opportunities in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, green economy, supply chain resilience, and youth talent development, in order to collectively shape a new economic landscape for ASEAN.


Summit Highlights


  • 51 MOUs signed during the summit, with a potential value exceeding RM100 million.

  • Dewan Rakyat (Parliament) Speaker Tan Sri Johari attended and delivered a speech, stressing Malaysia’s firm commitment to safeguarding ASEAN’s unity and resilience.

  • Distinguished guests included Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador of China to Malaysia; Rattaphong Anuphan, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia; Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia; Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap, Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, Dato Goh Hin San, as well as business leaders from across the ASEAN region.

  • The event also presented 14 ASEAN Distinguished Chinese Entrepreneur Awards, along with the ASEAN Entrepreneur Exemplary Award, recognizing enterprises and individuals with outstanding contributions to the development of Chinese entrepreneurship in the region.
