The 4th “Zijing Cup” Badminton Tournament Successfully Concluded

On November 9, 2025, the 4th “Zijing Cup” Badminton Tournament, organized by the Association of Graduates from Tsinghua University Malaysia (AGTHUM) and co-organized by the the Assocation of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia (Liuhua), was successfully held at the Kompleks Komuniti Muhibbah badminton hall in Kuala Lumpur.


A total of seven teams representing various Chinese university alumni associations gathered for this grand event, strengthening bonds and friendships through badminton. After a day of intense competition, the Huaxia Northwestern United Team emerged as the champion, followed by the Liuhua Team as runner-up, while the Jinan University Team and Zhejiang University Team took third and fourth places respectively.

In his opening remarks, Hong Zi Shen, President of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association of Malaysia, emphasized that the Zijing Cup is more than just a sporting event, it symbolizes unity and harmony, and embodies the Tsinghua spirit of “Self-Discipline and Social Commitment”. It also reflects the determination, resilience, and camaraderie shared among Chinese-educated alumni in Malaysia.


Zi Shen warmly welcomed the Huaqiao University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Xiamen University alumni associations for their first-time participation, and expressed heartfelt appreciation for their enthusiasm. He noted that as more alumni associations continue to organize diverse and vibrant activities, collaboration and fellowship among overseas Chinese alumni have grown stronger, forming an ever-deepening sense of unity and connection.


He also extended sincere gratitude to the Liuhua Association for their RM2,000 donation in support of the event, and to the Organizing Committee for their tireless effort. The committee was chaired by Laxus Lim, Vice President of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association of Malaysia, who personally oversaw the preparation, coordination, and execution, ensuring the success of the tournament through his dedication and hard work.

Throughout the intense matches, players showcased outstanding skills, sportsmanship, and determination, earning rounds of applause from the audience. The Best Male and Female MVPs of this year’s event were Song Bo Shen and Dong Xiao Rui, respectively, in recognition of their exceptional performance and spirit.

The Zijing Cup has long been a cherished tradition of the AGTHUM. Held biennially, it serves not only as a competition but also as a bridge of friendship, bringing together overseas Chinese alumni for exchange, camaraderie, and growth. Looking ahead, the Association aims to attract even more alumni associations, greater sponsorship, and wider participation in the next Zijing Cup.


As the Zijing flower blooms once again, friendship endures. The AGTHUM will continue to promote unity through sports, strengthening the bonds among Chinese-educated alumni and writing a new chapter of togetherness and progress.
