On 18 May 2025, the 11th AGM of the The Association of Graduates from Tsinghua University, Malaysia (AGTHUM) was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur, hosted at Vsing Mi Bar, owned by alumnus Laxus Lim. A total of 31 registered members attended the meeting. The session was chaired by exco member Chong Zi Xuan, and all proceedings were carried out smoothly in a spirit of unity and collaboration.

AGTHUM President Hong Zi Shen delivered an address reflecting on his two-year term, sharing that while the alumni association is a non-profit organisation, it bears the vital mission of connecting alumni, serving society, and supporting the alma mater. He emphasized that the association thrives on the commitment of members who willingly contribute their time, energy, and resources. He reiterated the association’s “Three Core Visions and Four Key Goals”, aiming to build a resource-driven, connection-based, and high-impact platform that adds value for every Tsinghua graduate in Malaysia and beyond.
The AGM approved key reports, constitutional amendments, and conducted the new council election. Two significant amendment proposals were passed unanimously:
To officially accept non-Malaysian Tsinghua alumni as registered members, expanding the association's international network and fostering greater diversity;
To add one additional Vice President and one additional Deputy Secretary General, strengthening internal structure and operational efficiency.
A New Council Elected, Expanding the Alumni Network Further
In the 6th Council Election that followed, nine new council members were elected: Hong Zi Shen, Chong Zi Xuan, Gan Yee Chin, Charlie Ng, Laxus Lim, Evon Ng, Chua Pei Chyn, Fabian Kong, and Yong Bei Sheng.
The new council will hold its first meeting within 14 days to elect key leadership positions including President, Secretary General, and others. The AGM also extended heartfelt thanks to the outgoing 5th Council which are Sim He Yi, Karine Ong, and Tan Jye Leong for their longstanding contributions. He Yi previously served as both Vice President and Secretary General, Karine as Treasurer and Secretary General, while Jye Leong has been actively involved since the founding of AGTHUM and is highly respected among peers.
A Decade of Connection, A New Stage Ahead
This year marks the 10th anniversary of AGTHUM, a milestone of growth and unity. According to official statistics from Tsinghua University, 105 Malaysian students graduated in 2024, including 58 undergraduates and 47 postgraduates, reinforcing the vibrancy and growth of the Malaysian Tsinghua community.
AGTHUM now proudly has over 100 registered members, and continues to maintain close collaboration with the Tsinghua Alumni Association, Tsinghua Education Foundation, Malaysia Tsinghua University Council (MTHUC), APAC Tsinghua CEO CCI, Tsinghua University Malaysian Student Association (THUMSA), The Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China (Liuhua) and other alumni organizations.

Honouring the Past, Building the Future
This AGM not only marked a leadership transition, but also symbolised the continuation of alumni spirit and long-term vision. The event was filled with heartfelt exchanges and strategic dialogue, reaffirming AGTHUM’s role as a platform of empowerment and belonging.
