The 114th Anniversary Celebration of Tsinghua University in 2025

On April 26, 2025, with the arrival of spring, blooming bauhinia flowers, and the most beautiful days of April, Tsinghua University celebrated its 114th anniversary. Taking this opportunity, Liew Jin Yi, Founding President of the Malaysia Tsinghua Alumni Association, and Fabian Kong, Founding Vice President, returned to campus to attend the 20th Reunion of the Class of 2001 held at the Physics Department, Computer Science Department, and the New Tsinghua Auditorium. Fabian Kong represented the alumni in the Class of 2001 donation ceremony.

During this time, they also toured the library, Tsinghua History Museum, Schwarzman College, and the Art Museum, feeling deeply excited and proud of the university’s progress and achievements. They also reconnected with alumni from their respective departments, reminiscing about the past. In this joyful spring reunion, every sight brought back memories, and every step was filled with heartfelt emotions.


On April 27, 2025, Liew Jin Yi met with Kathryn Low, Executive Vice President of the Tsinghua Malaysia Students Association, and Jayson Chia, Head of Public Relations. He showed concern for the students’ academic progress and talent development plans. Accompanied by the students, he also visited their dormitories, looking ahead to new growth and shared hopes.

Liew Jin Yi and Fabian Kong also attended the 2025 Regional Alumni Associations Leadership Exchange, organized by the Tsinghua Alumni Association. There, they were reunited with former Vice President Jiang Shengyao, from whom they had received the Tsinghua flag during the founding of the Malaysia alumni association. They also met with new Secretary-General Zhao Jinsong and connected with many alumni leaders from both China and abroad. During the session, Vice Presidents Xiang Botao and Shi Zongkai, and Secretary-General Zhao Jinsong delivered passionate speeches. Liew Jin Yi also took this opportunity, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Malaysia alumni association and the newly implemented 90-day visa-free policy between China and Malaysia, to invite alumni worldwide to invest, do business, and travel in Malaysia.

Additionally, Liew Jin Yi and Fabian Kong attended a gathering of Malaysian Tsinghua alumni who are currently working or starting businesses in China. Attendees included Sandro Lee (Partner at Feitu Venture Capital), Huang Longhai (Founding Partner at Anyu Capital), and Ryan Loh (President of the Tsinghua Malaysia Students Association). The alumni fondly recalled their campus days, shared their career journeys in detail, and had lively conversations across regions. The gathering lasted for several joyful hours, with no one wanting to leave.
