On March 13, 2026, the APAC Tsinghua CEO CCI (APAC Tsinghua) held its new council inauguration ceremony and spring gala in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together Tsinghua alumni entrepreneurs and representatives from across the region. The event aimed to further strengthen alumni cohesion and promote regional economic, trade, and educational collaboration.
The newly appointed President, Dato’ Kelvin Lee, shared that APAC Tsinghua will continue to leverage the strengths of its overseas Tsinghua alumni network to deepen exchanges and cooperation across business, education, and society. The association will also actively promote regional resource integration, support Malaysia–China relations and academic exchange with Tsinghua University, and create more opportunities for Malaysian students to pursue further studies at Tsinghua.
AGTHUM was also invited to attend the event. President Hong Zi Shen and Secretary-General Fabian Kong participated and engaged in in-depth discussions with distinguished guests from various sectors, exploring collaboration opportunities. Exchanges focused on industry development, innovation partnerships, and the integration of alumni resources, further strengthening connections within the alumni network.
The ceremony also paid special tribute to the contributions of Tan Sri Nelson Tan during his tenure. After 12 years of dedicated leadership, he formally stepped down, passing the baton to the new council. During his tenure, he played a key role in expanding and strengthening the association, mobilising Tsinghua alumni entrepreneurs across the Asia-Pacific region and fostering cross-regional business collaboration. Under his leadership, the association grew into an influential platform. As an Honorary Advisor of AGTHUM, he has long supported the alumni association’s growth, witnessing its development from inception to its current scale. AGTHUM expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for his longstanding guidance and contributions.
With this leadership transition, APAC Tsinghua enters a new phase, building on its established foundation while continuing to expand its network and deepen its impact on regional economic and social development. Looking ahead, AGTHUM also looks forward to working closely with the new leadership under Dato’ Kelvin Lee to achieve greater progress, further unite alumni, and elevate multi-sector collaboration to new heights.
