10th Anniversary Series - Tsinghua Alumni Reunion Malaysia Tour & Delegation Visit

From November 13 to 16, 2025, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Association of Graduates from Tsinghua University Malaysia (AGTHUM) and to further strengthen collaboration among alumni from China and Malaysia, the association successfully held a four-day, three-night “Tsinghua Alumni Reunion Malaysia Tour” and charity gala. The event brought together alumni and guests from China, Thailand, Singapore, and across Malaysia.


A Gathering of Alumni Across Multiple Fields


The delegation was led by AGTHUM Advisor Liew Jin Yi and Secretary-General & 10th Anniversary Organizing Chair Fabian Kong, with Tan Kah Chun coordinating the programme.


Overseas guests included:

  • Tan Wei, Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Association of Henan Province, and Assistant Secretary-General Sun Jingwei

  • Liang Yupiao, President of Jiangmen Tsinghua Alumni Association, and Deputy Secretary-General Ge Bin

  • Yu Shuhuai, Vice President (Preparatory) of Nantong Tsinghua Alumni Association

  • Representatives from the Tsinghua Alumni Association of Thailand, including Li Taishan

  • Alumni from Tsinghua SIGS (Ma Renqin), Tsinghua Law School (Cui Hongwei), Tsinghua SEM (Yang Zhuo, Xia Nian)

  • Tsinghua MBA alumna Dong Wen

  • Xiao Jie, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Digital Economy Industry Promotion Association


In-Depth Visits: Focusing on Technology, Finance & Industry Development


The agenda was tightly arranged, giving the delegation a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia’s technological landscape, financial ecosystem, and key industries.


Visit to SIDEC (Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation)


Alumni visited SIDEC for insights into Selangor’s AI development and potential collaboration opportunities. At the dinner, YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State EXCO for Investment, Trade & Public Transport, emphasized that Selangor aims to be the preferred gateway for China’s top tech enterprises entering Malaysia. SIDEC CEO Yong Kai Ping also served as keynote speaker during the “Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy” forum.

Visit to Fiuu (Southeast Asia Payment Platform)


The delegation visited Fiuu, Malaysia’s largest online payment company with:

  • Approximately 60% market share

  • Over RM100 million processed daily


Discussions covered cross-border finance, regional payment ecosystems, and how AI is transforming the industry. Fiuu COO Oon Wee Keong is also an alumnus of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu.

Visit to Malaysian Petroleum Club (MPC)


Located on Level 42 of PETRONAS Twin Towers (Tower 2), MPC offers exclusive access for Malaysia’s oil & gas leaders. The group was specially granted entry to the private Skybridge VIP deck, a space occasionally used by national leaders to receive foreign dignitaries. Alumni enjoyed local refreshments such as Teh Tarik and Keropok Lekor while touring the venue. MPC, founded by the late Tun Azizan Zainul Abidin, is a key hub for Malaysia’s O&G sector.

Visit to Top Glove


The delegation visited Top Glove, the world’s largest glove manufacturer. Founder and Executive Chairman Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai personally hosted the group.


He emphasized the company’s culture of “Three Types of Health”: Mental, Physical, and Financial Health. Tan Sri Dr. Lim, also Honorary Advisor to Malaysia Tsinghua University Council, encouraged alumni to learn continuously and strive to be positive contributors to society.


Top Glove serves over 2,000 customers in 195 countries.


AGTHUM Advisor Liew Jin Yi noted the visit’s three guiding intentions:


  1. Respect & Learning: To understand Top Glove’s success, including technological innovation, global strategy, sustainability, and crisis management (especially during the pandemic).

  2. Connection & Empowerment: To build bridges for cooperation between Tsinghua alumni networks and industry.

  3. Gratitude & Giving Back: To better understand Malaysia’s leading enterprises and explore how alumni can provide value and contribute to society.

Visit to the Lin Lianyu Foundation


Alumni toured the Lim Lian Geok Memorial Hall, learning about the historical efforts of Malaysia’s Chinese community in preserving Chinese education. Discussions centered on cultural heritage, education development, and strengthening the Foundation’s mission.

Visit to the Tan Kah Kee Memorial Hall (Malaysia)


The group visited the Malaysian Tan Kah Kee Memorial, located at the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall. They learned about Tan Kah Kee’s leadership in uniting the Chinese diaspora, supporting anti-fascist resistance during WWII, and his lifelong dedication to education and social development. His contributions are widely regarded as an enduring legacy of a trans-era, trans-national Chinese leader.

10th Anniversary Gala Opening Forum: Strengthening Bonds & Looking Ahead


On the evening of 15 November, the AGTHUM 10th Anniversary Gala & New Council Inauguration Ceremony was held at EkoCheras Mall. The gala opened with an AI-themed forum.


  • China Mobile AI Applications: Dr. Yin Mingming, AI Manager at China Mobile, presented the company’s latest developments and real-world AI use cases.


  • Selangor AI and the Digital Economy: SIDEC CEO Yong Kai Ping shared Selangor’s strategic direction for AI and the digital economy.

Friendship, Collaboration & Shared Vision for the Future


This four-day, three-night programme strengthened ties among alumni from various regions, facilitated knowledge exchange, and laid a solid foundation for deeper China–Malaysia cooperation in:


  • High technology

  • Trade & economic development

  • Talent cultivation


Alumni expressed their commitment to upholding the spirit of Tsinghua’s motto:


Self-Discipline and Social Commitment”, and contributing to the building of a China–Malaysia community with a shared future.
