AGTHUM Hosts Networking Dinner for Delegation Led by Prof Kee Keh Kooi and Wei Lai

On July 20, 2026, the AGTHUM hosted a networking dinner to welcome a delegation of faculty members and students from Chang Gung Hospital and other departments, led by Prof Kee Keh Kooi and Prof Wei Lai, during their visit to Malaysia. Around 40 participants attended the event, including 25 alumni and distinguished guests, as well as 15 faculty members and students. The evening provided a relaxed platform for meaningful discussions on medical education, artificial intelligence, the healthcare industry, and Malaysian culture.
The dinner was hosted by our President Hong Zi Shen, who began by extending a warm welcome to the visiting delegation on behalf of the Association. He then introduced the development of the AGTHUM in Malaysia, sharing that there are now more than 700 Malaysian Tsinghua alumni, with close to 100 Malaysian students graduating from Tsinghua each year in recent years, reflecting the steady growth of the alumni community.
He also highlighted that the Alumni Association was established in 2015 and celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. Prof Kee has served as the Association's Honorary Advisor since its inception, providing continuous support and guidance throughout its development. In addition, the Association has maintained close collaboration with the Tsinghua University Malaysia Council (MTHUC) and the APAC Tsinghua, jointly promoting alumni engagement, educational collaboration, and industry partnerships.
Prof Kee and Prof Wei then introduced the background and objectives of this year's summer practice programme. They shared that the delegation of 15 faculty members and students from Chang Gung Hospital and other departments visited Malaysia to gain first-hand exposure to the country's multicultural society, healthcare industry, and the integration of artificial intelligence in medicine. The programme aims to provide students with valuable international learning experiences while fostering future collaboration in medical education and research.
During the networking session, alumni shared their professional experiences and career journeys in Malaysia, while the visiting faculty members and students actively engaged in discussions on topics including healthcare systems, artificial intelligence, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural development. The lively exchange created a warm and engaging atmosphere throughout the evening.
Following the dinner, the alumni arranged a visit to the newly opened Durian Museum near the Petronas Twin Towers, where participants had the opportunity to experience one of Malaysia's most iconic fruits durian. The visit offered the delegation a memorable introduction to Malaysia's unique food culture and brought the exchange programme to a successful conclusion.
